Duszah Hail To Leo

Leo is my heart dog, my soulmate. Like many, I grew up with dogs. For me it was German Shepherds and Labradors, but after working at a kennel for a few years, I’d decided a Border Collie was the dog that would best fit my personality and lifestyle. I spent a long time researching breeders who I thought were doing all the right things ethically, were educated and raised healthy, confident pups. I was impressed and drawn to Duszah Border Collies. I gradually built a relationship with Tina, Leo’s breeder and waited until I was in the right place to take on a puppy of my own. Leo’s litter was born and I was instantly captivated by him, though being second on the waitlist, didn’t think I’d get my first choice.

As I’ve come to see, Leo and I were always meant to be. The other family chose his brother so I was thrilled to know this boy would be coming home with me.

Leo and I began our life together and in no time had an unbeatable bond. We did everything together, we still do. We moved around, and no matter what came our way, it was always him and I. Early on, Leo came to work with me which included puppy daycare, dog daycare and he was my training dog when doing walk & trains with client’s dogs. He is a great asset in group social settings and knows when to soften a dog and when to give an appropriate correction. There’s a lot of trust between he and I, we’ve always been a team.

We met my partner Forrest at his seminar in Australia and eventually made the move to America, to be with him. We now share our life here with Forrest, all of our dogs and hope to continue helping people locally and from a far.

Leo is sweet, spunky, confident, loyal, stable, social, workable, intelligent, loving, tough, affiliative, strong, soft, cheeky and more. He truly is the most well rounded border collie I’ve seen, and so, is a great representation, in my mind, of what the breed should be.

Leo is highly motivated for training and loves learning new skills. We enjoy performing plenty of tricks together along side Leo’s abilities in herding, bitework, scentwork and obedience.
